I love getting started with a new bit of tech, reading the backgrounds, the documentation and trying out the code examples before going on to adapt them to suit the needs of the project.
Smart card devices are not something I’ve used before and I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I am looking at two vendors: MULTOS and Gemalto’s .NET cards. Both look promising for different uses, the first seems suited to heavy-duty security and encryption/signing whereas the .NET cards look good for quick utility apps. More on this to follow!
With so much networking to do, it’s important to create as many of the lasting links as possible: LinkedIn, Facebook Groups and Pages, Twitter and so on. Today, through a recommendation from a colleague I’ve applied to Web Design And Developers Association as it describes at least one aspect of what we do quite nicely. Hopefully they won’t baulk at the newness of this relaunched site!

Somehow I don’t seem to have run into SQL Server for a while, most of the projects I’ve been on lately have been either infrastructure, iPhone or Flash based. It’s funny how you get used to working a particular way.
Microsoft tools feel less robust and more prone to quirky faults. At least with tools that come with a set of shell scripts you can fine tune as much as you like. Or perhaps I’ve just OD’d on SVN in the last few weeks.
